What are solar buy-back rates?

There are times when the amount of electricity produced by a household's solar system is more than the household needs. During these times the additional energy produced is automatically injected into the electricity lines network.

The 'buy-back' rate is how much a retailer will pay for each unit of solar electricity that goes into the electricity network. Buy-back rates vary between electricity retailers.

The table below shows the different buy-back rates retailers offer. Rates are listed as the cents per unit of electricity excluding GST. Units of electricity are measured in kilowatt-hours (kWh).
