Toast Electric is New Zealand’s only not-for-profit electricity retailer. It services all households in the Wellington Electricity, Electra, PowerCo (Wairarapa) and Orion New Zealand networks (Wellington, Porirua, Hutt Valley, Kapiti, Horowhenua, Wairarapa, Christchurch and central Canterbury).
Sustainability Trust, a Wellington-based charitable trust that has been warming up New Zealand homes and fighting energy hardship for over 20 years, operates Toast Electric.
Toast Electric’s community-benefit model means that for every four ‘regular’ customers it has on board, it can support one lower-income household. Customers on low incomes can be referred by partner agencies to Toast Electric’s Energy Wellbeing programme. The Energy Wellbeing programme provides lower electricity tariffs, winter discounts and advice and support from the company’s assessors and partners.
As a not-for-profit organisation, Toast Electric has a focus on community benefit, social equity and ensuring lower-income households are not left behind in the carbon and energy transition.
If you have any questions, concerns or complaints about service please email [email protected]. If your complaint isn't resolved, ask Utilities Disputes to consider your complaint.
